Mr. Sidney Hill Manning, 73, of Flomaton, Ala., went home to be with the Lord Sunday night. A native of Greensboro, Ala., Mr. Manning had resided in Flomaton most of his life. He was the son of the late Corporal Sidney Earnest Manning and Mamie (Knowles) Manning.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 87th Mountain Infantry and was a retired automobile mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Manning of DeFuniak Springs. Survivors include his wife, Violet Manning of Flomaton; five daughters, Barbara Settle of Milton, Myrtice Dixon of Jay, Ann Gray of Flomaton, Margaret Scott of Orlando and Jackie Bee Adams of Paxton; five step-children, Gladys Boone of Semmes, Ala., Jean Odom of Blanchard, La., Christine White of Flomaton, Joe (Sonny) Eddins of Mobile, Ala., and Jackie Hilliard of Chickasaw, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mike Daniels and Glenn Lowery Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Cemetery in Byrneville, Florida.

Pallbearers will be Dan Lambeth, Wayne House, Jack Green, Sam White, Bob Collins and John Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Boutwell, Aubrey Sapp, T. K. Manery, Bud McDavid, Bill Rackard, Olen Gilley, Dilliard Mayson, Ovis White, Herman Boutwell, Odell Fore, Junior Bell and Connie Boutwell Jr.
