Obit in The Correctionville News, 28 July 1960, page 1: Martha Elizabeth Courtney, daughter of Cephus and Nancy Cronin, was born August 6, 1888, at Revere, Missouri, and passed away July 22, 1960, at her home in Correctionville. She moved to Ida Grove in 1907. On March 4, 1908, she was united in marriage to Harrison M. Courtney, and to this union were born three sons and four daughters. The family moved to the Correctionville Community in 1932. Mrs. Courtney had been a member of the Church of Christ since 1904. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother and a sister. Survivors include her husband, three sons, Richard of Elsie, Nebraska, Earl of Independence, Missouri, Charles of Eugene, Oregon; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Magle of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Mildred Monroe of Westville, Indiana, Mrs. Lulubelle Ward of Correctionville, and Mrs. Marjorie Dunkelberger of Sturgis, South Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Courtney and Mrs. Laura Christy, both of Revere, Missouri, and Mrs. Luella Moore of Fort Madison; a brother, Rudy Cronin of Revere, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday, July 25, for Mrs. H.M. Courtney at the First Church of Christ in Anthon with Rev. Duane King officiating. Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home.
