Ruby, of Hillister, passed away peacefully at her residence after a long illness.

She graduated from Kirby High School in 1945. She was a member of the Warren and Spurger Eastern Stars for about forty years.
She married Bryan Jay Smith, Jr, on March 22, 1946 in Hillister.

She, with her husband, ran the B.J. Smith Service Station for thirty one years. She was a lifelong member of Hillister Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Dona Norton; brother, Luther David Norton, and son, Wesley Earl Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Bryan Jay Smith, Jr., brother, O.V. Pete Norton and wife Betty, one son, B.A. Smith and wife, Linda; two daughters, Linda Sue Smith Williams and Ruby Ann Maclin and husband, Charles and one daughter-in-law, Marietta Reese Smith; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
