A rancher & farmer, he also retired working at the San Marcos Wool Mill and lived nearby the wool mill on the old Austin/Kyle Hiway near the rail road tracks. His wife was Maudie Belle (Henderson) Cochran, born in Rutledge, Tenn on 02 Jul 1893. They attended Calvary Baptist Church.
They were married on 24 Jun 1913 in Hays Cty, Texas.
His youngest son, Edgar Lee Cochran was born on 24 May, 1924 in Zorn near Segiun, and died on 13 April, 1964 while serving in the US Air Force 465th Bomb Wing (SAC) in Warner Robins AFB, Ga. Ed was a war veteran of WWII and Korea.
Son's Walter Dixie Cochran served in WWII honorably in the US Navy, Horace Berry Cochran served in WWII honorably in the US Army, Orville "Kim" Cochran served in WWII honorably in the US Army, and son Elmer Richard Cochran served at Camp Gary Army Air Corps base in WWII honorably.
During his kids younger days he formed a band called Dib and the Little Diblets that played county music around the central Texas area. His son Kim Cochran made four records during the 1960's and grandson's Gerald Wayne Cochran & Kim Cochran Jr. wrote songs and played music. His grandson Bob Ed & wife Carol are in the music business.
His father was Levi Newton Cochran Sr., grandfather was Martin Baty Cochran, and his great grandfather was Joseph Sidney Cochran. His grandmother was Isabella Elizabethson West Cochran, and she is buried near Levi Sr. in the old Wimberley Cemetery.
His sister was Annie B. Cochran Autry married to Walter Taylor Autry. Their grandson's are James "Jim" Autry, and Richard Autry. Walter Taylor Autry is a 2nd cousin to Orvon Gene Autry.
To all his family he was called Papa and to others he was called Dib.
Levi & Maudie's daughters were Bessie Grace Vencak living in Middletown, PA., Jessie Joe (Defrain)Underkoffler of Harrisburg, PA, Ada Mae Robison of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dorothy Jane Truitt of San Marcos, Texas,Sadie Rae Ellis of San Marcos, Texas, Mary Lou White of Sunnyvale, CA., and Edith Ruth Cochran (Inf) who passed away in 1928.
Their son's were Horace Berry Cochran of San Marcos, Texas, Walter Dixie Cochran of Kyle, Texas, Edgar Lee Cochran of Warner Robins, GA, Orville "Kim" Cochran of San Marcos, Texas, and Elmer Richard Cochran of San Marcos, Texas.
