Mae Belle Avery, 83, died June 25, 2008, at Wesley Towers Thorne Care Center.

She was born May 21, 1925, in Protection, daughter of Ollie and Anna Troyer Schrock. She was a 1943 graduate of Protection High School and longtime resident of Hutchinson.

She was a food service employee with USD 308, retiring from Hutchinson High School. She belonged to the First Church of God. She was a member of RSVP Volunteer and Ladies Missionary Society of First Church of God.

On May 5, 1948, she married William Herbert Avery in Hutchinson. He died Oct. 30, 1978.
Survivors include: son, Roger S. Avery, Hutchinson; daughters, Marcia K. Haskin, Cushing, Okla, Patricia A. Brewer, Hutchinson, Rebecca J. Newton, Wilton, Conn; brothers, Donald Schrock Sr., Garland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Duane Schrock; and three sisters, Pauline Wallace, Lucille Holcomb and Darlene Newlin.

Funeral will be at 2 pm Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Oonie Cooper officiating. Friends may call from 9 am to 9 pm today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Memorials to: Wesley Towers or Ladies Missionary Society of First Church of God, in care of the funeral home.
