Guy D. Arbuckle, Denver Pioneer, to be buried Friday - The body of Guy D. Arbuckle, Denver pioneer, who died at Amarillo, Texas, recently, arrived in Denver Thursday morning, and will buried at Riverside cemetery Friday afternoon. Funeral service will be held at the Horan mortuary parlors, 1527 Cleveland Place, Friday, at 2:30 o'clock. Arbuckle was the only one of four brothers who did not meet death by violence. He succumbed to cholera morbus. Dick Arbuckle and Mortimer Arbuckle were slain in gun duels in the late seventies, and Scott Arbuckle was killed in a mine cave-in at Carbondale, Colorado a few years later. According to tradition, a gypsy fortune-teller, many years ago, foretold that all four brothers would "die with their boots on." Guy Arbuckle was a member of Hook and Ladder Company No. 1, volunteer fire department, from 1875 1880. More than twenty years ago he returned to his former home in Missouri, and later removed to Amarillo, Texas. The Rocky Mountain News, July 9, 1925 - LAST OF ILL-FATED ARBUCKLE BROTHERS DIES IN AMARILLO. THREE MET VIOLENT DEATHS AS GYPSY PREDICTED AND CAUSE OF GUY'S DEMISE WILL BE KNOWN TODAY - Will the prophesy of a gypsy fortune teller years ago that the four Arbuckle brothers, prominently identified with the early history of Denver, would "die with their boots on" come true? With her prediction 75% fulfilled, three of the brothers having met tragic ends more than two score years ago, old friends of the family in Denver are waiting for further news as the body of the last of the quartet, Guy D. Arbuckle, nears Denver by train, to learn what caused his recent death in Amarillo, Texas. The body is expected to reach here this morning, and will be removed to the Horan mortuary, 1527 Cleveland place, where the funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The body is being accompanied by his widow and son. Members of the old Denver Volunteer Fire Dept., of which Arbuckle was a member, will be pallbearers. Interment will be in the family plot where the rest of the Arbuckles are buried in Riverside cemetery.
