OLIVER ROSWELL TAFT: was born in Crawford Cnty PA on 3 Jul 1854 and died at his home in Crawford Cnty WI on 15 Jan 1919 at an age of 64 years, 5 months & 12 days. He came with his parents to Wisconsin at the age of five years and settled on a farm in Grant Cnty for one year. Then moved to Crawford Cnty on the farm where he lived until the time of his death. He was married to Rosa Coleman on Aug. 22, 1898 . To this union were born three children, all of whom are living. He leaves to mourn his demise a beloved wife, one son and two daughter, Benjamin A, Anna L, & Elizabeth O who all reside at home, 3 sisters and 2 brothers: MrsOlive Harris, a twin sister of Riverside CA, MrsMary Holden of Haney and MrsElizabeth Coleman of Bell Center, Absolom & Alanson both of Haney, a host of other relatives and friends. A father, mother, and 2 sisters having preceded him to his eternal home.
MrTaft has been a very successful farmer all his life and he also worked at the blacksmith trade 24 winters. He had been a patient sufferer for the past seven years and about Dec 1st began to grow worse and just at the break of day on Jan 15th, he passed to his eternal home. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.F. Jameson of Gays Mills, at the home and the remains were laid to rest in the Haney Ridge Cemetery.
