He was the son of Ray C. and Ruby (Thompson) Adams. He graduated Tecumseh High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University. He was married 60 years to Faye E. Sager Adams on June 26, 1948. James served in World War II with the U. S. Navy and served in South Pacific on the USS Mack. He retired as an engineer-gauger, from Sun Oil Co. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and served as deacon to Maysville First Baptist Church and Henryetta Immanuel until illness. He loved singing in the choir. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Ray C. Adams and Ruby T. Adams; daughter, Terry LaDawn Adams; brother, Don Adams; and granddaughter; Chandra Lei Adams. Survivors include wife, Faye E. Adams; son, Bruce V. Adams and wife, Janice Sue; grandson, Jared J. Adams, and numerous nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be Tuesday 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Schooler officiating.
