Herbert Landis, a resident of Klamath Falls since 1921 and member of a pioneer business family, died unexpectedly early today in Hillside Hospital apparently following a heart attack. Mr. Landis had entered the hospital Monday for treatment. He was born March 25, 1905, in Sacramento and came to this city with his parents who owwned the Landis Bakeries here for many years. He graduated from Klamath Union and later attended Oregon State College. Landis was a member of Peace Memorial Church and was a deacon in Klamath Lodge #77 AF&AM. He was identified with Boy Scout activities for many years. He was employed with the Klamath County Road Department. Mrs. Landis is office secretary for Altamont Junior High School. Surviving are his widow, Letha Landis, of Klamath Falls, two sons, Richard Landis of Portland and David Landis of Washington D.C.
