MUNOZ Funeral Plans Uncertain

Funeral plans were incomplete last night for service for Mrs. Ernesto G. MUNOZ and baby son, both of whom died at Hendrick Memorial Hospital. Mrs. MUNOZ early Saturday morning and the baby soon after his birth Thursday night.

Arrangements to be announced from the Elliott funeral home, awaited word from Captain MUNOZ, the soldier husband on duty in the Panama Canal zone.

Mrs. MUNOZ, the former Shirley SIMS, of 2733 Orange, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. P. SIMS. Born Jan. 9, 1914, in Batesville, Ark., she lived in Texas with her family when a girl, was a college graduate, and taught school at Erick and Clinton, Okla. before moving to Abilene more than a year ago.

She was married to Captain MUNOZ with the army intelligence section at a Camp Barkeley chapel last Dec. 12.

Surviving are her parents, a sister, Geneva, and two brothers, Coy, Hardin-Simmons university student, and Mose, in the navy at Norfolk, Va.

Officer En Route to Abilene for Funeral of Wife and Son

Lieut. Ernesto Garcia MUNOZ was en route Monday from the Panama Canal Zone to Abilene to attend funeral services for his wife, Shriley SIMS MUNOZ, and their infant son, Richard SIMS MUNOZ who died in a local hospital early Saturday morning.

Funeral services were planned for Tuesday at an hour not definitely fixed. Elliott's Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Besides her husband, Mrs. MUNOZ, who was 28, and her son are survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. P. SIMS; a sister, Geneva, a brother, Coy, all of Abilene, and a brother, Mose SIMS, chief petty officer in the navy on duty at Norfolk, Va., as a physical training instructor. Mose SIMS, a former AAU national champion heavyweight wrestler and all-conference football tackle at Southwestern Oklahoma State Teachers college, also was en route here for his sister's funeral.

Mrs. MUNOZ was born in Batesville, Ark., Jan. 9, 1914, and moved to Texas with her family at the age of 11, and to Erick, Okla., a few years later. She taught school at Erick and Clinton, Okla., before coming to Abilene 15 months ago. She was married to Lieutenant MUNOZ in a Camp Barkeley chapel, Dec. 12, 1941. MUNOZ has been on duty in the Canal Zone as an intelligence officer.
