Marjorie Jean Nash Sherwood 1932 ~ 2006 On a beautiful Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2006, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother lost her year long battle with breast cancer. My dear mother was born to Franklin Nephi and Myrtle Hancock Nash Aug. 13, 1932, in Tooele, UT. She was educated in the Tooele schools and graduated from Tooele Seminary and Tooele High School in 1950. My mother married my father (Skip) Glenn A. Sherwood, April 8, 1950. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, May 13, 1954. They had just celebrated 56 years together. My mother was a faithful member of the LDS Church and the 11th and 14th wards. She served in all its auxiliary organizations. On her 32nd birthday, 1964, her life was nearly cut short by kidney disease. She spent all that summer and fall at LDS hospital and was virtually plucked from the clutches of death by Dr. Hal H. Bourne. It was his first year in private practice at LDS hospital and without his genius, faith and skill we would have not enjoyed 42 more years with my mother. She was very courageous during this time and all she could think of was to keep living so she could raise her two children. The late Dr. James Orme, a former Tooele resident, gave her excellent medical care over the years. We know that without both doctors' efforts, we would have lost our dear mother. My mother was a lovely, shy perfectionist and a very conscientious homemaker. She always sacrificed her needs and wants to make sure we had what we wanted and needed. My mother had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a very bright articulate woman. On average she read 200 books a year- no fiction. She truly was a self-educated woman. This was her second battle with breast cancer. She suffered physically and emotionally, but always maintained a positive attitude and kept smiling through it all. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sergio Abarca, Jess, Shannon, Deanna, Mamma Marie, Rick and Joan from Harmony Hospice and Rita, Natalie, Jennifer and Sandy at Garden Terrace Care Center, SLC, UT. Marjorie is survived by her husband (Skip) Glenn, daughter Diane (Russ deceased) DeMond, grandchildren Russell (Julene) DeMond, Ryan (Yuko) DeMond, Lisa (Steven) Keifer, Jennifer (Joseph) Beckenhauer, Erika (Joshua) Smibert, Sean (Lindsey) Peterson, Patrick and Michael Peterson, seven great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Becky Peterson Sherwood, beloved sister Donna (Brad) Fox, dozens of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Stella Nash, Ila Nash Sparenberg, Wanda Rufener, and friend and beautician Anna Hallet. Preceded in death by her son Rick, her father and mother, brothers Farrell, Delbert and Floyd; sisters Mary (Ross) Nelson and Thelma (Ferris) Rydalch; three nephews and a niece. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Tooele 14th ward, 192 W 200 S, Tooele and visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to service. Marjorie will be laid to rest next to her son, Rick, at the Tooele City Cemetery. Rest in peace dear Mother, 'til we meet again
