Union Civil War Veteran Soldier. Born in Delhi, near Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Allen J. and Eliza Haywood Cullum. During the Civil War, he answered Governor John Brough's call for volunteers as soldiers with terms of three year enlistments began to expire. Cullum enlisted for one hundred days of service with the 146th Ohio National Guard Infantry and was mustered into Company G as a Private on May 2, 1864. He was mustered out at Camp Dennison in Hamilton County, Ohio on September 7, 1864. Cullom returned to Cincinnati and later died at his residence in Kennedy Heights in 1919 when he was 81 years old. He was the husband of Kate Shumaker Cullom. His grave marker has the incorrect date of death as 1918 instead of 1919 as his death certificate and cemetery interment records indicate.
