“William ‘Bill’ J. Flynn, Jr., 82, formerly of Route 2, Attica, (Independence), who had been residing at the Murdock Manor, Lafayette, died at 9:37 a.m. April 30, 1992, in the emergency room of Home Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born at Lafayette, October 5, 1909, the son of William J. and Antoniette Goerth Flynn, Sr. He was married to Opal B. Clawson, at Lafayette, October 29, 1931. She survives.

He was raised and educated in Lafayette and had lived at Route 2, Attica for 41 years before moving to Murdock Manor in September 1991. He was a machinist and night superintendent for Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette for 45 years. He retired on April 30, 1972.

He had attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Lafayette. He was a member of Fairfield Rifle Club and enjoyed working with his hands.

Surviving, besides the wife, are: two sisters, Lillian Smith, Lafayette; Marguerite Browning, Brandenton, Florida; two brothers, Paul E. Flynn, Clearwater, Florida; and Walter J. Flynn, Nokomis, Florida. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Henrietta Flynn, who died the same day; Helen Yost and Erma Helfenberger; along with his parents.

Funeral services were held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, at 2 p.m. Monday with Father Duane Craycraft officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.” – Fountain County Neighbor, Attica, Indiana, May 5, 1992
