Sarah Boardman (q.v. Boreman), dau. of Samuel Boreman and Mary Betts, b. of record Mar. 4, 1654/5 in Wethersfield, Conn. She was living in Wethersfield on Apr. 9, 1717 when the estate of her deceased husband was distributed to her, her step-dau Abigail (Fitch) Kimberly, and her own children son Samuel and Sibell (Fitch) Hurlbut. She d. of record July 2, 1746 in Guilford, Conn. as an obvious member of her son Samuel's family in Guilford, Æ 92 (g.s.)

On an unrecorded date after Nov. 1684 probably in Wethersfield, Sarah m. as his 2nd wife, Sgt. Thomas Fitch, s. of Samuel Fitch and Susanna Wiggin (latter the former wife of Maj. William Whiting of Hartford, Conn. and subsequent wife of Alexander Bryant (q.v., Briant) of Milford, Conn.) Thomas Fitch was b. circa 1653 probably in Hartford and d. intestate Oct. 18, 1704 in Wethersfield, Æ 52 (no known g.s.)

Thomas Fitch m. 1) of record Sept. 15, 1680 in Wethersfield, Abigail Goodrich, dau. of Ens. William Goodrich and Sarah Marvin, b. in Wethersfield June 5, 1662. Abigail d. of record Nov. 8, 1684 in Wethersfield, Æ 23 (no g.s.) They had the following three children at Wethersfield:

• i. Thomas Fitch, Jr. b. July 20, 1681; died in infancy.

• ii. Abigail Fitch, b. circa 1682, was living in Newtown, Fairfield County, Conn. in 1728 when her husband's estate was probated; m. of record May 11, 1696 in Stratford, Conn., Abraham Kimberly, Jr., b. Mar. 4, 1674/5 at Albemarle County, in modern South Carolina. Nine children of the family. Stiles' 1902 Ancient Wethersfield followed by later writers assigned Abigail as the dau. of her father's 2nd wife Sarah Boardman, an obvious error. If the latter were true, that Thomas Fitch's 1st wife d. of record in Nov. 1684 would mean that dau. Abigail could not have been born prior to late 1685, then married Abraham Kimberly of record in 1696 when barely 11 years of age. That Abigail (Fitch) Kimberly was a very young bride is obvious, but not at age 11.

• iii. Sibell Fitch, b. Nov. 2, 1684, d. in infancy Dec. 18, 1684.

Sarah Boardman and Thomas Fitch had the following three children in Wethersfield:

• i. Sibell Fitch, b. circa 1686 assuming she was 18 years of age when she married, d. in Newington, Conn. before Nov. 30, 1747; m. of record Apr. 27, 1704 in Wethersfield (by James Treat, JP), Joseph Hurlbut, s. of Stephen and Phebe Hurlbut, b. July 10, 1683 in Wethersfield. He d. in Newington June 24, 1752, Æ 69 (g.s.) Ten children of the family.

• ii. Samuel Fitch, whose birth is not of record but b. on or after Nov. 6, 1694; was living on Sept. 7, 1713 as a minor (under age 21) when William Whiting of Hartford was appointed his guardian. He was living Apr. 9, 1717 when included in the distribution of his father's estate. He m. (1) of record Oct. 19, 1720 in Guilford, Conn., Mary Griswold, dau. of Thomas Griswold and Sarah Bradley, b. Sept. 28, 1700 in Guilford. Eight children of record in Guilford. She d. in Guilford Dec. 2, 1750, Æ 51 (g.s.) Samuel m. (2) of record in Guilford July 22, 1752, Hannah Chittenden, widow of Josiah Bishop.

• iii. Martha Fitch, b. prior to 1694 assuming she was at least of age (18) at death, d. of record in Wethersfield Feb. 2, 1712/3. Her estate was inventoried Sept. 3, 1713 with administration of Martha, "a single woman," granted Sept. 7, 1713 to her mother Sarah.
