Mary Louise Hoke, 93, of Columbus, died on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Beartooth Manor in Columbus, Montana.

She was born in Red Lodge, Montana,on July 27, 1915, to Blaz and Augustina Starcevich. Mary attended school in Red Lodge. In 1933, she married Arnold T. Hoke of Washoe, Montana. Mary had two children, Arnold W. and Jerry L. In 1941 the family moved to Port Orchard, Wash., where Arnold worked in the Naval shipyards in Bremerton, until moving back to Red Lodge in 1945. They returned to Port Orchard in 1951, and then moved to Billings in 1953. In 1975, Arnold and Mary moved to Columbus. Arnold passed away in 1982.

Mary enjoyed her garden and was a wonderful cook of ethnic dishes. She loved music and would sing songs in her parents' native language. Even in her nineties, she could remember all the words.

Mary is survived by her sons, Arnold W. Hoke (Carole) of North Bend, Wash., and Jerry L. Hoke, of Columbus. Mary also had three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Columbus with Rite of Committal in Mountain View Cemetery, Columbus, Montana.
