Born in Wilmer, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Austrian-Italian immigrants, Silvio "Sam" Buganza and Palma Fenice. He was the second oldest of nine children and was known nearly his entire life as "Bob". His siblings were Donoto (known as Pete), Neal, Leo, Mary, Joe, Theresa, Clara (known as Dola), and Carolina (known as Ida). A Catholic by faith and a resident of Penfield in Bennetts Valley, he was a coal miner by profession and later an electrician. Bob was a veteran of World War II. Bob died at the Maple Avenue Hospital in Du Bois, Pennsylvania in 1974 when he was 69 years old. He never married.
