Charles C. Leavitt, 86, passed away early Tuesday morning from ailments incident to his advanced age. He has been in poor health for some time, and has been confined to his home for several weeks. Mr Leavitt has lived longer in Afton than any other person, we believe. He came to the valley in the early eighties and has lived here since that time.
Funeral services were held in the South Ward chapel at 1:00 p.m. Thursday and he was buried in the Afton cemetery.
We will have a short sketch of his life for our paper next week.

At the age of 86, he had 112 living descendants; 9 children and 53 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday January 15, in the South Ward chapel. Bishop Arch Gardner presiding and 1st counselor Willard Nield conducting.
Prayer was offered in the home by President E. Francis Winters. The flowers were carried by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pall bearers were his six sons. Processional music was played by Nada Joy Gardner.
Opening son: "Through Deepening Trials" by the South Ward choir.

He was buried in the Afton cemetery. The grave was dedicated by his only living brother, Edward Leavitt of Lewiston, Utah.
Left to mourn his passing are his six sons and their families; Elmer, Lorin and Ray Leavitt of Auburn, Ira and Thede Leavitt of Afton and Alton Leavitt of Idaho Falls, his daughters, Mrs Ruby Chadwick and Mrs Albon Harrison of Afton and Mrs Orson Johnson Smoot.
Relatives from out of the valley attending the funeral were: Mr and Mrs Edward Leavitt;and son Norvell Eulalta Taggart, Walter Taggart, Elura Kent, Carie Leavitt, Verlin Leavitt, Mrs Les Bower, Donald and Wells Jackson, Laura Blair and Mr and Mrs Wheeler all of Lewiston.
