She was married to Andrew W. Thorpe 1822-1904)

======
Mrs. Andrew Thorpe died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Priestley, last Sunday night Jan 18, following a stroke of paralysis which she suffered a few days before.

Mrs. Thorpe, whose maiden name was Sarah Jane Albert, was born near Winchester, Virginia, Dec 20, 1830 where she lived until her marriage to Andrew M Thorpe in 1849. About a year later, they moved to Illinois and settled in Goose Creek Township where they spent many years. From the farm home, they came to Monticello and purchased a home which they occupied until the death of Mr. Thorpe in 1904. Since that time Mrs. Thorpe has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. George Priestley.

Of the nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe, only three, Edward, George and Mrs. Priestley, survive her. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her only sister, MRs. Alice Woolington of Decatur, has been with her for several days.

The deceased was one of our oldest residents having spent nearly seventy years in or near the city. She has always been active in all progressive movements and took great interest in the community affairs. Her sunny disposition won her many friends who will miss the pleasant smile and kind greeting of Grandma Thorpe.

The funeral services wee conducted by Rev. J.D. Kruwel at the home of Mr. & Mrs. George Priestley, Wednesday morning at ten o'clock.
