SCOTT CITY - Aletha Emma Varnon, 85, died Sept. 2, 2001, at the Parkview Health Care Facility in Bolivar.
Born Feb. 9, 1916, in Ancell, daughter of the late Otto and Anna Sander Walter, she retired from the Carter Carburetor Company in St. Louis and was a U.S. Army veteran. She was a former resident of St. Louis and Morrisville and of the Catholic belief.
Her husband, William "Bill" Varnon, preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1959.
Survivors include: four brothers, Charles "Gene" Walter, Alfred Walter, Lenos Walter and Henry Walter; and two sisters, Dorothy Hamm and Kathleen Green.
Three brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery at Scott City.
