Charles C. Allsop, 83, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, in his residence. Mr. Allsop was born on November 13, 1914, in Mill Creek, Indiana and had lived in South Bend since 1950, coming from the Lakeville-Breman area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin L. and Anna (Solmos) Allsop; a son, Francis Allsop and three brothers. He was a farmer in St. Joseph, retiring in 1979. After he retired from farming he worked at Mark's Farm Supply in Niles, Michigan from 1979 until 1985. On May 14, 1936, in Lakeville, Indiana he married Lula Franklin, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Alice (Wayne) Farrington and Marjorie (Larry) Royce, both of South Bend; a daughter-in-law, Janice Allsop of South Bend; three sons, Charles R. "Bud" (Sonja) Allsop of Niles, Larry (Ilah) Allsop of North Vernon, IN, and Jerry (Jane) Allsop of Covington, GA; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and by a brother, Frank Allsop of Florida. Mr. Allsop was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and was formerly on the German Township Advisory Board for twenty years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Firday, October 9th, in Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
