Marriage for Jane Claude Bonnett to James Smith, and one between Catherine Smith to Thomas Lang. Turns out the James is Everett James Smith.
Source Citation: Year: 1880; Census Place: Springfield, Greene, Missouri; Roll: 688; Family History Film: 1254688; Page: 207D; Enumeration District: 043; Image: 0116. She is there with her husband and children from a first marriage, Mary, Susanah, Parthenia, Thomas and Hattie Smith.
It appears this was a second marrige, and she married him in 1879 as Catherine Smith. That would not be her maiden name. I did see her on some trees on ancestry listed as Smith maiden name though. Some trees has her as Jane Catherine Bonnett. A marriage has a Jane Claude Bonnett married to James Smith. She is listed as wife of Everett Smith, in 1880 census, and living next door to Montgomery Bonnett and family. One tree has the child Susan Montgomery Smith, and Montgomery the first name of the Bonnett family next to them. That helps tie this to the same person. The problem being the names Jane Claude, Jane Catherine, and now this one Catherine E.
She is found in the 1900 census with her daughter Hattie married to Oscar P O'Neal. As it turns out on the lot with her son Thomas Smith, and the son in law Osacar is there, but did not see Hattie by name. She must have re-married after the death of Oscar. Census information she showed up in Texas census of 1940 alone. For what reason not sure. The son Tom Smith has the name of his father listed as Carl Smith. So much of this info has been mixed and confused. Errors are made on names and documents. Perhaps there are some answers more close to the truth than what my resesarch has, or perhaps some have taken these docs. at face value and accepted them and does not have a clue.
