Alfred was the son of Jean Baptiste Destrempes and Emilie Descoteaux. He was baptised at Ste Patrice Church in Magog, Quebec, on Aug 16, 1863, but born on July 20 1863 in Magog Quebec.
Alfred first appears in Barton Vermont in 1870 with his parents, his father was a farm laborer at that time.
By 1880 Alfred has removed to Allentown New Hampshire where he shows living with his mother Emily and his other siblings. He was working in the mills with his sister Melvina to help support the family, his father Jean/John is not in Household, although Emily shows still married.
Alfred marries probably in 1886 to Marie Loetiec/Fortier, it's not clear where they married but quite possible in Massachusetts. But they were living in possibly Fisksdale Massachusetts before January 1887 when son Elie was born (This location was found on Elie's draft notice) and then they go back to Canada to have a daughter Rose in 1889 and then removes to Massachusetts again before Ulric was born in May 1891/2 Ware Massachusetts. These two children appear in the 1901 census of Magog with parents and show emigration to Canada about 1892.
(Household in Magog 1901: Alfred age 38, Mary his wife age 33, Elie age 14, Rose E age 11, Ulderic age 8, and Joseph age 2).
Alfred had at least 4 children with his first wife Marie before she dies between 1901-1902 Quebec.
Alfred remarries on Oct 27 1902 to Rose Anna Gendron in Ste Patrice Church in Magog Quebec and at least 2 children are born of this marriage.
In the 1911 Census Alfred Destrom (no "p" on the surname) was using the first name Albert, he was age 45 and his wife Rosanna was age 29, he had son Albert from his first marriage with him (age 13 ) and daughters (by Rose) Irive age 8 and Gertrude age 2. Rosana was listed as born in United States, but everyone else born in Quebec.
As far as we know Alfred went to Massachusetts in later years. His sons Elie and Ulric went there before 1930 and remained there to raise his families.
Alfred was in Sherbrooke in 1933 for a family gathering, he is photographed in a family snapshot taken by Harry Destromp, ( his nephew). The photo was the 4 remaining siblings : Arthur, Melvina, Marguerite aka Maggie and Alfred.
