Graveside service: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Graford. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington.
James was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Salem, Ark., to Clarence and Euna Briggs. James was in the U.S. Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and the U.S. Army where he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a resident of Arlington for the past 30 years and was retired from LTV. He was a member of the American Legion Lodge and UAW 848. He enjoyed bowling and sports.
James was preceded in death by longtime friend, Trixie Chaney Daken.
Survivors: Daughter, Margaret Ann Ogle and husband, Floyd; brothers, Clarence A. Briggs and Robert R. Briggs; sister, Mildred O. Staneck; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of close friends.
