George Washington Graves was the son of Richard Jr Graves and Sarah Elliott of White County Illinois.

George Washington Graves married Martha Jane Hillyard on 14 Mar 1869 in White County Illinois.

George and Martha had four children all born in White County, IL. The children being, Luella (1869-1870), Marcella (1871-1874), Edward Everett (1874-1944), and William Orville (1879-1881).

George, Martha, and E.E. left White County IL and moved to Dexter, Stoddard, MO, then to Bismarck, St. Francois, MO and finally to Flat River, St. Francois, MO. I believe they operated a harness shop in Bismarck.
