Funeral Services held Tuesday for I.L.Dowlearn

Irvin Lee Dowlearn,aged 50 years,8 months and 8 days,passed from this life at the Santa Rosa hospital at San Antonio,Texas at 6 a.m. Monday,August 28,following an illness for 4 weeks.
Mr.Dowlearn was born and reared in DeWitt County,living most of his life in the county of his birth.In 1911 he was married to Miss Alice Kirkpatrick.
"Babe" as he was known to his many friends in Yoakum,and the railroad circles,was one of the employes of the S.A.& A.P. for many years and was at the time of his death employed as a conductor of the T.& N.O. branch of the S.P.railroad.
We was known by many people in San Antonio as well as Yoakum and elsewhere. He was a man that made friends where ever he went. He had a pleasing personality; always ready to assist others in their troubles and did much of it. He had worked with many crews, all of whom held him in high esteem.
Surviving are: His wife, Mrs.Alice Mary Dowlearn of San Antonio; three sons,Roger of San Antonio, Lee of Houston and Irvin Llyod of Memphis, Tenn.
One brother, Jeff Dowlearn of Houston; three half brothers, Carl Harry of Yoakum, Jewel Harry of Mount Belvieu and Alton Harry of Port Arthur,all of Texas.
Funeral services were conducted from the Buffingtn Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Tuesday,August 29,by Rev. S.C. Dunn pastor of the McKinney Avenue Methodist church of San Antonio, Tx. assisted by Rev. Walter W. Lipps pastor of the Yoakum Methodist church.
Interment was made in Oak Grove cemetery under direction of Buffington Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were; Joe Donally, S.O. Johnson Sr., O.C. Wagner, M.D.Raiford, R.W.Lay,E.May of Yoakum, and Lee Henson and C. T. Wade of San Antonio.
