Miss Maud Byrum

Miss Maud Byrum, 88, of 297 South Willard street, was found dead in her home Tuesday afternoon, Death occurred several hours earlier from natural causes, according to Coroner Gordon Traul.

She was the daughter of William and Sarah Stevens Byrum, and was born in Wapello county, near Dudley, July 1, 1867. She had been a resident of Ottumwa, for 54 years and was a member of the Finley avenue Baptist church.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Nina Bare of Shelton, Wash., several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Fred W. Hirst of Denver, who was reared by Miss Byrum. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Johnson funeral chapel, in charge of the Rev. U. Earl Burroughs of Ottumwa. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
