Lamp Overturns and Man Fatally Burned
Glasgow, May 10--Fatally burned when a kerosene lamp turned over in his home, Nathan Ranney, for many years a resident of Nashua, died at the Deaconess hospital in Glasgow.
Mr. Ranney had returned from church and was alone in the house when the accident occurred. Neighbors heard uncommon sounds from the home and on entering, found the unfortunate man lying on the floor, suffering from painful burns.  First aid was administered by Dr. Frie of Nashua and Mr. Ranney was brought to the hospital here.
Life of Adventure--Nathan Ranney was 72 years of age, a native of Catarawgus county, New York.  A life of adventure in his youth brought him to the mining camps of the Black Hills, western Montana, and later to Bismarck, N.D., then booming with the advent of the railroad. Later he went to Auburn, Minn., where he conducted a store and married Ella Jane Vaughn, whose death occurred in Nashua, Mont., in 1914. Mr. Ranney moved his family to Nashua in 1911, where he engaged in contracting until his death.

Age: 71. Cause of death: Burns about head & neck.

Son of Julius & Nancy (Milks) Ranney. Husband of Ella Jane (Vaughan) Ranney, father of Blanche, Cecil, Russell, Lola, Agnes, Noel, & Wilfrid Ranney.
Grave marker is next to Wilfrid, Ella, & Agnes Ranney.
