Rose, the daughter of Thomas and Regina (Smotka) Bednarcik, was born in Thief River Falls on April 28, 1915. She married James C. David at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Jan. 9, 1934. Together they farmed near Shieldsville. Her husband preceded her in death.
She is survived by four sons, Boniface of Kenyon, Richard of Bloomington, Jacob of Kilkenny and James of Apple Valley; two daughters, Rose Mach of West Concord and Patricia Kobus of Cloquet; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rose was adopted as an infant.
Story was that real father (last name Paulson?) worked for railroad as an engineer, and was killed on the job. Real mother (Ella Pulis) was a teacher, and from the Dakota's. She was a Norweigen Swede. Regina Bednarcik was in deep depression after losing a set of twins and her doctor suggested adopting another patients baby and that would be Rose. Only 2+ pounds, Rose was placed in a small box on the oven door as an incubator.
