L.A. Aikens
L.A. (Bert) Aikens, 84, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana where he had been admitted that morning. He had been in ill health for two years.
Born February 4, 1888 at Cutler, Indiana, he was the son of Benjamin and Sarah Izard Aikens. he was married to Ethel Lowery who preceded him in death in 1961.
He was a member of the Cutler Presbyterian Church and Wildcat Masonic Lodge in Cutler. He was retired from Alcoa in Lafayette, Indiana.
Surviving are three daughters: Bernice (Mrs. Troy) Calloway of Cutler; Pauline (Mrs. Ward) Cree of Lafayette; and Viola (Mrs. Joe) Bolinger of Wabash; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Seven sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Masonic services were conducted Wednesday evening at the Carter Funeral Home in Flora, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cutler Presbyterian Church with Reverend Herbert LaPage officiating. Burial was in Ball Hill Cemetery.
