In the passing of this pioneer citizen, familiarly called "Bob" from his boyhood, another link has been broken from the chain of dear old personalities of our community. They are fast departing from our midst. In time we shall have only recollections of the by-gone days as told by them. A character so full of reminiscences of the past will be greatly missed by his friends.
Robert Weaver was born in 1860 near Douglass, Texas. He was the son of William H. And Minerva Weaver who came to Texas from Alabama in the early days of the Republic. These prominent citizens featured distinctly in the various developments of both Douglass and Nacogdoches. Other sons and daughters remembered as worthy citizens were Geo. H. And John Weaver, Mrs. Wm. Parrish and Mrs. Annie Paine; Miss Joe Weaver of this city, a cousin is one of the older members of the family.
In 1881 Robert Weaver was married to the amiable Miss Elizabeth McKnight, daughter of Capt. And Mrs. F.L. McKnight of Douglass, a distinguished ffamily of the county. This young couple made their home in Nacogdoches county then, and lived in or near here the remainder of their lives.
