In 1961, Deputy Cornell graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. In 1970 he was selected to head the new Prince William County Criminal Investigation Division where he served as Sergeant at Arms until 1973. At that time he left the police department and went to work for Battlefield Ford, where he worked until he became ill.
He is survived by his wife, 3 children, a brother, and his parents.
