Stephen was a Baptist Minister, he started the first Baptist Church in Sumner County, Kansas at South Haven in 1876. He was a charter member of the Pine Creek Baptist Church, Lebanon, Laclede County Missouri. He was also their first minister, and served in that capacity for seven( 7)years for a salary of $75.00 per year. Stephen was also a teacher.

Gravesite Details

He and Malinda are buried in what was originally the front yard of the church, rather than the cemetery in back. The church later burned, and was rebuilt about 100 yards down hill from the original location. The two graves now sit on a small kno
