BEACH

Wright Beach was born in Jackson County, KS, in the Bucks Grove neighborhood, on May 10, 1881, and passed away at Holton, KS, on Feb 7, 1939, age 56 years, 8 months, and 7 days. His death being caused by a heart attack.
On May 29, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Senner at Bucks Grove. To this union were born six children: Donald, of Oswego, Oregon; Oren of Soldier; Erma Scripter, of Oswego; Helen, of Soldier; Ralph, of Oswego; and Rosalie, of Soldier. All of these children with their mother remain to mourn his untimely departure. Besides these a sister, Mrs. Ruth Retter of Marion, KS, and two brothers, Charles, of Los Angles, CA, and William of Wayne, Georgia, one grandson, many cousins and other relatives.
At the age of 16 yeas he was converted and united with the Methodist church at Bucks Grove, KS. Later he transferred his membership to the Soldier Methodist church, and all the time has been active in church and Sunday school work, serving as steward, and as Superintendent of the Soldier Sunday School for many years.
Last Fall he was elected Clerk of Jackson County and was installed into office Jan. 9th, serving two days less than a month before his death.
Wright Beach was a man of excellent habits, fine moral character, active in church, school, farming and all movements for the benefit of mankind. He will be greatly missed from the community, and all sympathise with his berieved family.
The funeral was held on Sunday at the Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George Engel. Mrs. McClenahan, Mrs. Hazel Myer, Robt. Markham and Rev. Engel sang with Miss Esther Tolin at the piano. A Mr. Scripter sand "The City Four Square," with his sister at the piano. The casket bearers were Roy Tolin, Floyd Wood, Chas. Minner, Ross Manuel. O.C. Nichols, and I. O. Godlove. There was a large floral offering. Burial was in the Beach family lot in the Bucks Grove cemetery.

The 1930 U.S. Fed. Census showed Wright & Laura Beach living near or at Soldier, Jackson, KS. It indicates that he was b. abt 1882 and was 48 years old. His spouse's name being Laura. Seven children are shown: Donald B. age 21; Oren P., age 20, Erma L. age 18, Helen J. age 16; Ralph W. age 14; and Rosalie F. age 7.
