Survivors include her husband, Denis Grigsby of Conrad; her sons, Grant Grigsby of Bozeman and Adam (Michelle) Grigsby of Billings; her mother, Ann Murphy of Deer Lodge; her brothers Rodney (Cyndi) Murphy of Shoreview, Minn., Donald (Marie) Murphy and Allen (Rose) Murphy of Deer Lodge, and Daniel (Brenda) Murphy of Hamilton, Ohio; her sister, Sheila (Dan) Neckstad of East Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved so much.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Ann; her son, Britt Joseph; and her father, William Murphy.
Lilly was born June 10, 1953, to William and Ann Murphy in Miles City. She attended elementary school in Richey, and graduated high school in Choteau in 1973. Lilly worked at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Choteau, and Roy's Restaurant in Conrad. She also worked as a childcare provider, for which all of the children that she cared for love her very much and think of her as their second mother.
Lilly married Denis Grigsby in Conrad in 1974, and the couple settled on the family farm, where they farmed and ranched, and then pursued other business interests. Lilly loved her home and her family very much.
She was a member of the Conrad Jaycees, the Conrad Women of the Moose and the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church.
Later in life, Lilly became an avid quilter. She loved making quilts for the people that she loved in her life. Lilly very much enjoyed traveling and camping with her family and friends, and enjoyed working in the family owned greenhouse in Billings.
Early in her young adult life, Lilly contracted rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Although she was in pain most of her life, she never complained about her condition and she never let it slow her down. She was a tremendous inspiration to all who knew her, and all who knew her loved her. Lilly always will be remembered for her perseverance and determination, her kind and giving heart, and her love of everyone she knew. Lilly was an angel on Earth.
