Obituary:
Joseph Eugene Abplanalp, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful friend passed from this life while peacefully sleeping on February 2, 1989 at his home in Utahn, Utah.
Born June 9, 1909 at Duchesne, Utah to William and Barbara E. Jenkins Abplanalp. Married Berniece Fietkau on March 18, 1930 at Duchesne. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1939.
Gene was a farmer and a rancher in Utahn for most of his life. He was an active member of his church, serving as Sunday School superintendent for 12 years; also as Branch president and Ward Clerk. He was a faithful temple worker and an active home teacher for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of Utahn; and a son, Lloyd Ray of Yuciapa, California; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrle Smith, Roosevelt; and Bessie Smith, Wendover; and brother, Thomas of Duchesne. He was preceeded in death by two daughters, Beverly Abplanalp and Ila Jean Belt; a son, Floyd; and three brothers.
Services will be held Monday, February 6, 1989, at 1:00 pm in the Duchesne 4th Ward Church. Friends may call Sunday, February 5, 1989 at the Olpin-Hullinger Mortuary, 7-9 pm and at the church, one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Utahn Cemetery under the direction of the Olpin-Hullinger Mortuary.
