Burial will follow in the Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center.
He died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002.
He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Newlin and moved to Cotton Center with his family in 1942. He married Martha Sageser on July 25, 1948, in Cotton Center.
He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church and taught the men's Sunday school class for many years. He had served on the Cotton Center School Board and was a former member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kyle and Troy, both of Cotton Center; two daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Greenville and Janice Ahrens of Danville, Calif.; four brothers, R.J. of Wolfforth, Orville of Lazbuddie, Kenneth of Cotton Center and Neal of Plainview; two sisters, Pat Christian and Jan Whitfill, both of Plainview; and eight grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 287, Cotton Center, TX 79021.
