He arrived at the port of New Orleans with his parents on board the S/S CONSTANTIA on 27 May 1867. Shortly after he and his family arrived in Stranger; his step-mother, Mary, died. His father returned to Ireland to find a new bride. Jim was left with his uncle, John Harper. William never returned.
