Death of J.J. Kennedy
Mr. J.J. Kennedy died at his home on Main Street last Thursday afternoon. He had been in failing health for many months but was confined to his home only a few weeks. Uncle Jolly was one of the old settlers in this town, coming here from Silas, Ala., when the town was in its infancy and identified himself with the business interests of this section. He served one term as marshall of the town and later, served as County Treasurer. He retired from all business activities several years back and lived a quiet life, getting much pleasure in caring for his fox hounds and occasionally joining in a fox chase. He was a man of a genial disposition and everybody was his friend.
He was a member of the Baptist church and his funeral services were held at his home Friday morning and interment made in the Lucedale Cemetery, Rev. G.S. Jenkins his pastor, officiating.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Art Gibson and Mrs. Evern Jones and several grand-children and other relatives to whom the Times extends sympathy.
