The Rev. Bascom E. Hopkins, pastor at the First Christian Church, conducted the services and burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
Mrs. Rice, 78 years old, was the widow of James P. Rice. She was born in Bloomfield, Mo., Dec. 8, 1893, and lived in Cairo since 1924. While not a member, she attended and participated in the activities of the First Christian Church.
She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers Club of Cairo. A son, Louis L. Rice, a pilot, was killed in active duties during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Rita Kealey; a son, James P. Rice, Jr.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ruth Marie Abernathy was the daughter of John Luther and Maymie E (Jones) Abernathy. She married James Percy Rice and together had four children, Louis Lloyd, Charles R, James Percy, Jr. and Rita Kealey. Thanks to Brent Gillespie for tranferring her memorial to me.
