Vernon Nathaniel Ady, the son of Homer Ady and Evelyn (Masten) Ady, was born on Oct. 31, 1932, in Goodland, Kan.
He spent his childhood years in Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado, attending high school in Kansas and Missouri. He finished high school through the 11th grade and later earned his G.E.D. Vernon enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
On Nov. 27, 1953, he was joined in marriage with Rosalie Herman. They celebrated 47 years of marriage last year in November.
Vernon was a longtime Western Slope resident and a retired barber. He was a past president of the Disabled American Veterans and belonged to Montrose Elks Lodge No. 1053.
Surviving family members grateful to share Vernon's life include his wife, Rosalie Ady, of Montrose; one daughter, Alyson and husband Michael Pezzullo, of Mesa, Ariz.; and two grand dogs.
