Naomi Ruth Lombardi, 94, passed away on October 9, 2021 peacefully in her home in Panama City.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Services will be conducted by Father Michael Nixon. Memorials can be sent to Wilson's Funeral Home in Panama City, Florida.

She was born Naomi Ruth Estes in Parker County, Texas to Milo Clark Estes and Sarah Elizabeth Grantham Estes on March 10, 1927. She was raised in Texas where she attended high school and worked on the small family farm. Her tenacity and strength came from her rural experiences during the Great Depression when times were difficult for everyone. As a young woman in World War II, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she met her husband, Joseph Francis Lombardi, a medic in the US Air Corps. On January 22, 1947, Naomi and Joseph were married and started the beginning of a new life and growing family. Together, they had three children, John Michael, Janice, and Brenda.

Naomi cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother above all else. She became the matriarch of the family sharing her common sense wisdom with all she knew. Her legacy of faith and family will live on through her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

To say she was independent and tenacious is an understatement. Her career started as a cosmetologist opening her own "beauty shop" in the 1960's. As a lifelong learner, she began the arduous academic journey at mid-life and completed her bachelor's degree at Florida State University in Panama City. She also completed her real estate certification. She was a truly self-motivated person whose pursuit of adventure and knowledge defined her.

Naomi was a woman full of faith, grace, and love who we will always miss. Her favorite hymn was "Amazing Grace" and, as a woman full of grace and love, she will be missed greatly. She is survived by her children: John Michael Lombardi and his wife, Janet McEuen Lombardi of Panama City, Florida; Dr. Janice D. Lombardi of Dallas, Texas; Brenda Lombardi Burkett and her husband Leonard Burkett of Panama City, Florida. Her grandchildren were a special joy in her life - Anthony Burkett, B. J. Burkett & Erika Burkett, Marie Lombardi-Mullin & Dana Mullin, Michael Lombardi & Mariah Lombardi, and Chad Priest & Dr. Katherine Michelis. Naomi's eight (soon-to-be nine) great-grandchildren will carry her legacy well into the future.

The family of Naomi Ruth wishes to extend our gratitude to all the grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends who have made her transition one of comfort and love.

Donations in Naomi's name can be made to Catholic Charities of Panama City.
