Former Resident Dies Suddenly In Peoria Hospital
Word was received here Monday of the sudden passing of Walter E. Kent of Peoria, formerly of the Alta and Dunlap vicinities.
Mr. Kent died at 3:27 a.m., Monday in the Methodist hospital where he was taken from his home shortly after midnight.
He was collector for the Peoria Star for 23 years and was still active in the collecting business and had worked as usual Saturday. He even visited relatives on the Mossville Road Saturday afternoon and called on his aunt, Mrs. Walter Allen, Sunday near Dunlap.
Funeral services for Mr. Kent were held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilton Mortuary with Rev. Mathlida McNemar of Unity church officiating. Burial was in the Parkview cemetery.
He was born in Shenandoah, Ia., November 19, 1891, the son of Albert and Laura Shaw Kent.
He married Vera Louise Rice in Peoria June 16, 1921. She died in 1946. He was a member of the Unity church,
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Homer Pierce of Alta; and two brothers Clifford Kent near Mossville and Harry Kent of Alta. One sister preceded him in death.
