Obituary, Fate---
Katherine Motsick Fate, daughter of James and Katherine Motsick, was born in Tama County, Ia. Oct. 25, 1882 and passed away in the Mary Lanning hospital (sic) in Hastings the morning of Dec. 13, 1958 at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 18 days.
When Katherine was a small child she moved with her parents to Ravenna. After graduating from Ravenna public schools, she attended the Grand Island Business College and then moved to Clay Center to work as a secretary for the M. M. Johnson Co.
On April 5, 1906, she was united in marriage to Earl E. Fate. To this union two children were born.
Katherine Fate was formerly a member of the Methodist Church and became a member of the Union Church of Clay Center in April of 1952. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge and served as recorder for many years.
She was preceeded (sic) in death by her husband on Aug. 22, 1954, also by her parents, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Cyr of New York City; son, Clarence J. Fate of Clay Center; and four grandchildren, Katherine Cyr of Leonia, N. J., William Cyr of New York City, Jerry and Leonard Fate , both of Clay Center.
Services were held at the Union Church in Clay Center Tuesday, Dec. 16, with Rev. Keith Purscell of the Christion (sic) Church officiating. Music was provided by T. R. Nelson and Lester Nelson with Mrs. Earl Buchtel at the organ. Pallbearers were Ed Hansen, Sid Starr, Harvey Lobb, Ray Boyd, John Knox and Vern East. Interment was in Clay Center cemetery (sic).
