James MAYFIELD
James E. MAYFIELD, 87, of 2581 Cedar died at 5 a.m. Tuesday after a short illness. Services were to be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home Chapel, 242 Orange.
O. D. PROCTOR of the Oak Street Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Born May 1, 1889 in Arkansas he was reared in Dallas County. He married Martha Bell COATS there April 18, 1909. They moved in 1934 to Taylor County where Mr. MAYFIELD farmed and sold produce until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of the Oak Street Church of Christ.
His wife died in 1952.
Survivors include three sons, J. C. of Dallas, Hubert of 2017 Jameson and Don of 2581 Cedar; four daughters, Annie Bell STEVENS of Baytown, Alice HAGOOD of New Orleans, La., Birma MARES of Sacremento., Calif. and Vivian SHIPPEY of Houston; 9 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie MAYFIELD, Jerry MAYFIELD, Larry MAYFIELD, Jeff BERRYMAN, Jimmy BERRYMAN and Gary STRONG.
