The Commerce Journal, Friday, April 8, 1910 - ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. -- JOE SCARBROUGH LOST HIS LIFE BY DISCHARGE OF GUN. - Last Thursday, a young man named Joe Scarbrough (sic) was out hunting in the section of country between Wolfe City and Fairlie. He had a double barreled shotgun and leaned it against a stump. Accidentally hitting the gun it fell to the ground and the hammer struck a rock discharging the gun. The load of shot struck young Scarbrough killing him instantly. The fatal accident occurred near the Meyers farm between Fairlie and Wolfe City.
