Mrs. Mary Harvey Thigpen, 62, of Kilmichael, died on May 28, 2000 at Tyler Holmes Hospital in Winona from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was a retired educator at Kilmichael Elementary School, Kilmichael community correspondent for The Winona Times. She was also a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Kilmichael and a native of Montgomery County.
Funeral services were held on June 1 at Roberts and Sons Mortuary in Winona with Rev. Joseph Lampkin officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery near Kilmichael.
Mrs. Thigpen is survived by her husband, Ralph C. Thigpen of Kilmichael; one son, Michael Thigpen of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter, Chuwanda Thigpen of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Willie Claude Harvey, Claude Willie Harvey, both of Chicago, Ill., James Harvey of Kilmichael; one sister. Daisy Clark of Highland, Calif.; and one grandson.
Roberts and Sons Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
