Izaya Michael Baiz-Hickey was the beloved 5-year-old son of Nichole Baiz and Wesley Hickey of Mishawaka, Indiana. He attended Community Brethren Church and was in Kindergarten at Walt Disney School.

After helping his grandmother Melodie and his sisters prepare Thanksgiving Dinner he could hardly wait to go outside and play with his little friend. Not too long after Izaya went outside there was a loud explosion and the power flickered at the apartment complex where he lived.

His little friend came running back to give Izaya's family the sad news. Izaya had crawled into an unlocked utility box to retrieve a toy that the boys had been playing with. He died in a flash.

Izaya leaves behind three sisters and a baby brother who was the apple of his eye, as well as many other friends and family members.

The Unexpected
by Kaylee R. Williams

It was Thanksgiving
It was my grandma's birthday
It was November 27th, 2008

My nephew, Izaya
Only 5 years old
Left this world for a place called "Home"

He was playing with his friend
He was having a ball
When a toy fell in this place where he could crawl

He was a curious boy
And very brave, too
Here comes little Izaya to the rescue

He got to the toy
And much to his suprise
His whole life flashed right before his eyes

His little friend ran
As fast as he could
To tell my sister, but it was no good

It was too late
The damage was done
The little boy told her to call 9-1-1

Emergency! Emergency!
This is a code BLUE
Please tell me doctor this just can't be true

He was so full of life
Two minutes ago
Please, PLEASE tell me this really isn't so

He can't be gone
He's way too young
He has a lot left to learn, he coulda had more fun

He hasn't learned how to multiply
Or how to count to 100
He hasn't learned the Algebra that's really good for nothin'

He hasn't learned how to drive
He don't know much about cars
Except the ones he plays with out in the yard

He hasn't had a date
He hasn't been to prom
He hasn't been old enough to live on his own

He was my little buddy
He was my little friend
And I will always love him no matter what's supposed to happen

I'm gonna miss this little guy
I'm gonna miss his smile
I'm gonna miss the way he used to drive his momma wild

I'm gonna miss his little hugs
That were actually oh so BIG
He would wrap his legs around you and squeeze till you couldn't breathe

I know where he is
And that's where he's gonna stay
And him and I will DEFINITELY meet again someday

RIP Izaya
I will love you always and forever

I Am Free
by: Linda Jo Jackson

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
God wanted me now; He set me free!
