June 14, 1904 - Friends of R.L. Wolfe were shocked to hear of his sudden death, which occurred last Tuesday eveing about 6 p m. Earlier in the afternoon he was down town and seemed to be in his usual health. After returning home, his wife read to him, as was her usual custom on account of his eyesight. Suddenly Mr. Wolfe became faint and expired before a pysician could arrive.

Deceased was born in County Kerry, 67 years ago, and came to America in 1848 with his parents & settled in Illinois. In 1880 he was married to Miss Mary Fanning. For several years the Wolfe family resided at Templeton and at one time the deceased was one of the substantial members of the county board of supervisors.

After leaving Templeton he moved his family to Audubon where they lived a oouple of years before coming to Carroll, where they have a comfortable home on North Main street.

In the immediate family, beside his wife, a fifteen year old daughter is left to mourn his loss. Other relatives who attended the funeral were a brother, Thomas Wolfe Sr, and son of Clinton; a sister, Mrs. J. S. Overmire of Rock Rapids; and cousins, Richard Wolfe of Ottawa, Illinois, Ed Wolfe of Stuart, Iowa, aud Maurice Wolfe of Kansas. Ed Fanning, a brother of Mrs. Wolfe, from Ottawa, Illinois, was also in attendance.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Joseph's church and the remains wore interred in the Roselle cemetery beside his parents and infant son. The SENTINEL joins the many friends of Mr. Wolfe in condoling with the grief-stricken relatives.
