A United States Veteran of World War II, Sam was 20 years old, he was a contract truck driver. In public someone shot him several times on April 28, 1947. He died two days later in Nashville General Hospital. His parents were Sam Jones Sr and Florence Mable (Archey) Jones. He had several siblings and 1/2 siblings. On his U.S. Death and burial records it says he is married, On His Draft Registration Card#12464 it refers to contact his mother Florence in case of emergency. On his Obit it doesn't mention a wife. So perhaps they were separated? He mustered into service 16 Nov 1945 and mustered out in early 1947. He served as a Military policeman. He only had a 5th grade education and it is noted that only 50% of children had a 5th grade education in that area. In the hospital he was operated on for a gunshot wounds, left Chest and Abdomen, with Perforstion of his Lung, Stomach and Diaphragm. Pneumonia set in and he passed.
