Hardeman Royster Puryear was born 7 Aug 1817 in Halifax Co, VA and died 2 Jan 1888 in Mt Calm, Navarro (this is wrong) TX. He married (1) Caroline V. Adams 1848 Ballard Co KY. She was born bet. 1810-1830 and died 1877 in Navarro Co, TX. He married (2) Elizabeth Cole 1882.

Elder H. R. Puryear was born in Halifax Co VA 8-7-1817, his father William Puryear, removed from Virginia to Graves Co, KY where H.R. Puryear grew to manhood . . . He as ordained to the ministry, graduating from Georgetown College, KY in 1847. In 1848 he married Caroline V. Adams of Ballard Co,KY and they had 7 children. In 1857 or '58, he and his brother Deacon S. H. (Seymour Horace) Puryear, removed with their familiees to Texas. S. H. settling in Parker Co and H.R. in Navarro Co. H.R. was given a grant of land there to come as a minister and he served in that area for the next 20 years - 7 years in succession as paster at Corsicana. in 1877, his wife Caroline died. In 1882 Hardeman Royster married for the second time to Mrs Elizabeth Cole of Waxahachie, Texas. He moved to Mt Calm and was active there until his death, 1-2-1888.
